The inaugural Aquinas Students' Research Symposium (ASRS) was held on Saturday, February 24th, 2024, at Don Peter Auditorium in the presence of the Very Rev. Dr. Sylvester Ranasinghe, Rector / Vice Chancellor, Aquinas College of Higher Studies, Dr. Roshan Thotagamuge, Senior Lecturer, Department of Nano Science Technology, Faculty of Technology, Wayamba University of Lanka, and the symposium chair, Professor C. A. N. Fernando, Director of Research, Research Unit, Aquinas College of Higher Studies. The priests of the college, academic heads, lecturers, students, and parents were enthusiastically present at this event. The symposium was held under the theme “Harvesting Innovations through Research," and the chief guest of the occasion, Dr. Roshan, delivered his keynote speech, drawing close connections with this overall theme. He clearly explained the importance and correlation between research and innovation. The current examples he used to explain the topic made his speech interesting, inspiring, and enlightening. Five students were able to present their research papers, which really addressed the current issues in society. All who presented a paper at the symposium were given certificates, and the invaluable contributions of three students from each faculty were recognized and awarded. The symposium also promoted healthy interaction between the faculties of Aquinas College of Higher Studies.
